Red Velvet Macarons are a sweet and delicate treat that are ideal for any occasion. The traditional red velvet flavor is combined with a smooth buttercream filling to create a decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Two baking sheets should be lined with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, almond flour, and cocoa powder.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they are foamy.
  • Continue beating until soft peaks form after adding cream of tartar.
  • Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  • Add vanilla extract and a few drops of red food coloring to taste.
  • Fold in the dry ingredients until completely combined with the egg white mixture.
  • Fill a piping bag with the mixture and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • To remove any air bubbles, tap the baking sheets on a flat surface.
  • Bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes, or until they are set and can be lifted off the parchment paper.
  • Allow the baking sheets to cool completely.
  • To make the buttercream filling, cream the butter until it is smooth.
  • Mix in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk gradually until completely combined.
  • Fill a piping bag halfway with buttercream and pipe it onto the flat side of one macaron.
  • Sandwich with a second macaron.
  • Refrigerate the macarons in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
