Matcha Macarons Recipe

Matcha Macarons are a delicious and unique take on a classic French dessert. These macarons have a beautiful green color and a slightly earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with a variety of fillings because they are made with almond flour, powdered sugar, and matcha powder.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together the almond flour, powdered sugar, and matcha powder in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Separately, in a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until frothy.
  • Continue to beat the egg whites with the granulated sugar, cream of tartar, and salt until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg white mixture gently, taking care not to overmix.
  • If desired, stir in a few drops of green food coloring until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Fill a piping bag fitted with a round tip with the mixture and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Allow the macarons to rest for 20-30 minutes, or until a skin forms on top.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the macarons are firm and easy to remove from the parchment paper.
  • Allow the macarons to cool completely on the baking sheet before removing and filling with the filling of your choice.
