These Dulce de Leche Macarons are a sweet and decadent treat ideal for any occasion. The delicate almond-based shells are filled with creamy dulce de leche, creating a delectable blend of flavors and textures.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Two baking sheets should be lined with parchment paper.
  • Sift together the confectioners' sugar and almond flour in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Separately, in a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until frothy.
  • Continue to beat until stiff peaks form after adding the granulated sugar and cream of tartar.
  • Incorporate the vanilla extract.
  • Fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites until just combined.
  • Fill a piping bag with a 1/2-inch (13-cm) round tip with the batter.
  • Pipe small circles about 1 inch (25 cm) in diameter and 1 inch (25 cm) apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • To release any air bubbles, tap the baking sheets on a flat surface.
  • Allow the macarons to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until a skin forms on top.
  • Bake the macarons for 18-20 minutes, or until they are set but not browned.
  • Allow the baking sheets to cool completely.
  • Spread about 1 teaspoon dulce de leche on half of the macarons and sandwich with the remaining macarons.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
