  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celsius).
  • Two baking sheets should be lined with parchment paper.
  • Sift together the powdered sugar, almond flour, and instant coffee in a medium mixing bowl.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until foamy.
  • To the egg whites, add the granulated sugar, salt, cream of tartar, and vanilla extract.
  • Form stiff peaks with an electric mixer.
  • Fold in the dry ingredients until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  • Fill a piping bag fitted with a round tip with the batter.
  • Pipe small circles of batter onto the prepared baking sheets.

  • Allow the macarons to form a skin at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the macarons can be easily lifted from the parchment paper.
  • Allow the macarons to completely cool on the baking sheets.
  • Once the macarons have cooled, spread half of them with Coffee Buttercream Frosting.
  • To make a sandwich, place one frosted macaron on top of another.
  • Refrigerate the macarons in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
